Companhia Paranaense de Energia (COPEL) (CPLE3.SA) generates, transmits, distributes, trades and sells electric energy in Brazil; it also provides related services including telecommunications and gas distribution. The company operates 62 owned power plants comprising 18 hydroelectric, 43 wind and one thermal facility, alongside interests in 13 additional projects encompassing eight hydroelectric, four wind farms and one solar plant, yielding an adjusted installed capacity of 6,574 MW primarily from renewable sources; it maintains 9,685 km of transmission lines across eight states and 209,665 km of distribution lines serving over 5.1 million consumer units, including residential, commercial, industrial and rural customers, across 395 municipalities and 1,068 locations predominantly in Paraná with extensions to Rio Negro in Santa Catarina. Founded in 1954 and headquartered in Curitiba, Paraná, COPEL focuses on regulated and free energy markets, with segments spanning power generation and transmission, power distribution, gas operations, power trading, services and holding activities. COPEL continues investments in grid modernization, distributed generation expansion and asset efficiency, including the Facilities Modernization Plan, COGT modernization at plants like GPS Parigot de Souza, and wind complexes such as Jandaíra; it sustains its position in B3's Corporate Sustainability Index and upholds Level 2 corporate governance standards. In November 2025, COPEL approved the mandatory conversion of all preferred shares to common shares as part of its transition to the Novo Mercado listing segment to enhance governance and transparency; earlier in 2024, the company formed a strategic partnership with Google, pursued asset divestments, secured new investments and reported grid market growth of 4.7% in 4Q24 and 7.3% year-to-date. These developments bolster its operational resilience amid increasing bilateral energy contracts and equity gains from joint ventures.
