The company engages in various activities through its key segments. The Raízen segment, a joint venture with Shell, stands as a global leader in bioenergy. It focuses on the production and marketing of a wide array of products derived from sugarcane, including raw sugar, anhydrous and hydrated ethanol. This segment also encompasses petroleum refining, the operation of Shell-branded fuel service stations, convenience stores, and the co-generation and sale of electricity from sugarcane bagasse, alongside ventures into new bioenergy technologies and electromobility. Its Compass Gás e Energia segment is dedicated to transforming and expanding the natural gas market in Brazil. Through its subsidiary Comgás, it distributes piped natural gas to a diverse clientele spanning industrial, residential, commercial, automotive, and power generation sectors. Compass also invests in gas infrastructure and origination, trading, and gas-powered thermal generation, including the operation of an LNG regasification terminal in São Paulo. Recent developments include the acquisition of a controlling stake in Compagas, further solidifying its presence in gas distribution. The Moove segment is a significant player in the lubricants industry, producing and distributing products under the Mobil and Comma brands across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. It offers lubrication solutions for various industrial equipment and automotive vehicles. Rumo, the logistics arm, is Brazil's largest private freight railroad operator. It provides comprehensive logistics services, including rail transportation, storage, and port loading for agricultural commodities like grains and sugar, connecting key production regions to major export ports. Rumo also leases locomotives, wagons, and other railway equipment. Additionally, Cosan Investimentos manages agricultural property through its Radar segment, focusing on land leasing and portfolio revaluation.
