- Birchtech Corp. develops and supplies specialty activated carbon and ion-exchange technologies for air-emissions control and water purification in North America. The Company’s primary clean-air offering is its patented SEA® two-part sorbent-enhancement process, including customized powdered and brominated activated-carbon formulations, technical audits, engineering support, material handling and supply services, and non-exclusive technology licensing, which enable coal-fired electric generating units to capture mercury from flue gas while reducing operational impacts and preserving fly-ash marketability. Birchtech also provides water-treatment products and services targeting PFAS, PFOS, heavy metals and other regulated contaminants in potable-water and industrial-wastewater applications; these offerings include activated-carbon media, shaped and granular activated carbon, rapid small-scale column testing, contaminant analysis, performance evaluations, thermal reactivation and Design Center Analytical and Rejuvenation services, turnkey municipal water-treatment solutions, and its developing Carbon Rejuvenation™ process for restoring spent granular activated carbon for reuse. In March 2026, the Company expanded its water platform by launching SEA-IX™ nuclear-grade ion-exchange resins, comprising strong-acid cation, strong-base anion and mixed-bed resin formulations for ultrapure nuclear-plant water systems as well as coal-fired utility, municipal-water and industrial-wastewater applications; the U.S.-distributed line comprises 11 formulations and had received approximately $1 million in initial purchase orders. In February 2026, Birchtech completed an underwritten public offering concurrent with its uplisting to the NYSE American, generating approximately $16.4 million in gross proceeds. In September 2026, the Company announced an agreement in principle to acquire substantially all assets of a privately held specialty activated-carbon company, a proposed transaction intended to add commercial-scale processing and manufacturing capabilities and support the planned deployment of its Carbon Rejuvenation program. Birchtech, formerly Midwest Energy Emissions Corp., was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Corsicana, Texas.
