Business
Compañía Chilena de Fósforos S.A. is a Chile-based diversified industrial, forestry, and agribusiness enterprise primarily engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of wooden safety matches, biodegradable wooden consumer products, timber, and agricultural commodities. The company organizes its activities into three core business segments: Industrial and Consumer Products, Forestry, and Agribusiness. Its commercial offerings include safety matches marketed under proprietary brands such as Copihue, Andes, and Cóndor; wooden household, medical, and food-service goods, including toothpicks, skewers, ice cream sticks, tongue depressors, paint stirrers, and compostable wooden cutlery; forestry products, comprising poplar and radiata pine logs, sawn lumber, wooden veneers, splints, and biomass for energy generation; and agricultural products, encompassing fresh fruit varieties such as cherries, blueberries, apples, and walnuts, alongside cold storage and packing services. Compañía Chilena de Fósforos S.A. serves retail, commercial, food processing, and industrial clients throughout Chile, while exporting manufactured wooden items, lumber, and fresh agricultural produce to international markets across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The company executes its operations through specialized subsidiaries, including Forestal Copihue S.A. and Agrícola Copihue S.A., operating integrated manufacturing plants in the Maule Region and managing certified sustainable forestry plantations. In recent strategic developments, the company has expanded its manufacturing capacity for eco-friendly wooden cutlery and disposable food utensils to address growing global demand driven by single-use plastic bans; implemented automation and efficiency upgrades across its primary manufacturing facilities in Retiro and Copihue; expanded its high-yield fruit orchards and cold-chain infrastructure to grow fresh fruit export volumes to Asian and North American markets; and advanced its sustainability initiatives through improved biomass utilization and circular wood waste management across its operational footprint. Founded in 1913, Compañía Chilena de Fósforos S.A. is headquartered in Santiago, Chile.
