Business
Maritima de Inversiones S.A. is a Chile-based investment holding company primarily engaged in the acquisition, administration, and management of equity securities and financial assets across industrial, maritime logistics, and consumer goods sectors. The company operates through diversified strategic holdings, channeling capital into key operating businesses that provide a broad spectrum of products and services: international ocean container shipping, multimodal freight transportation, and global supply chain logistics services through its equity participation in Compania Sud Americana de Vapores S.A. (CSAV), which holds a significant ownership interest in German liner shipping carrier Hapag-Lloyd AG; specialized steel casting solutions, forged steel grinding balls, high-wear mill liners, and crusher wear parts for the global mining, aggregate, and mineral processing industries through Compania Electro Metalurgica S.A. (Elecmetal / ME Elecmetal); glass containers, bottles, and specialized packaging solutions for the beverage, wine, beer, and food processing industries via Cristalerias de Chile S.A.; and premium viticulture, premium and ultra-premium bottled wine production, bottling, marketing, and global export operations through Vina Santa Rita S.A., encompassing wine brands such as 120, Medalla Real, Casa Real, and Triple C. In addition, Maritima de Inversiones S.A. conducts treasury management, liquid portfolio investments, and corporate capital allocation activities to support its balance sheet. Founded on January 5, 1982, following a corporate split from Compania Sud Americana de Vapores, the company is headquartered in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile. Maritima de Inversiones S.A. operates as a subsidiary of Navarino S.A., with ultimate parent control exercised by Quemchi S.A. within the Claro Group (Grupo Claro) conglomerate. While its financial management is centralized in Chile, the company maintains extensive indirect international exposure across the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific through the manufacturing facilities, distribution networks, and maritime trade routes of its portfolio assets. In recent developments, Maritima de Inversiones S.A. has executed substantial dividend distributions to shareholders, supported by ongoing dividend inflows received from CSAV and Hapag-Lloyd. The company has also integrated enhanced corporate governance, climate-related risk disclosures, and sustainability frameworks in compliance with the Financial Market Commission of Chile (CMF) General Rule No. 461 across its investment oversight processes. Furthermore, the company continues to support strategic capital allocation and international expansion initiatives across its principal subsidiaries, including modernizations and efficiency improvements within ME Elecmetal and Vina Santa Rita, while maintaining strategic portfolio continuity under the Grupo Claro ownership structure.
