- Zona Franca de Iquique S.A. (ZOFRI S.A.) is a Chile-based concessionaire and administration company engaged in the development, management, and operation of the Iquique Free Trade Zone system. Founded in 1990 to manage free zone operations established in 1975, the company is headquartered in Iquique, Chile, and operates as a publicly traded entity on the Santiago Stock Exchange under majority state ownership by the Chilean economic development agency, Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO). ZOFRI S.A. acts as an international trade, logistics, and commercial hub connecting global markets, particularly Asia-Pacific trade routes, with the Southern Cone nations of Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil.
The company operates across three primary business segments: Real Estate and Infrastructure Management, Commercial and Retail Operations, and Logistics and Supply Chain Services. Its core product and service portfolio comprises industrial and commercial real estate solutions, including the long-term leasing, concession, and sale of industrial land plots, storage facilities, distribution centers, and standard warehouses; retail property management through Mall ZOFRI, a multi-level commercial shopping center hosting retail stores, duty-free consumer electronics, perfumes, apparel, footwear, home appliances, automotive accessories, and food services; wholesale center administration within the Walled Enclosure (Recinto Amurallado Sectores I and II) and the Barrio Industrial, catering to bulk commodity dealers, heavy machinery distributors, and international transit merchants; specialized industrial park management, encompassing the ZOFRI Alto Hospicio Business Park (Parque Empresarial ZOFRI Alto Hospicio - PEZAH) and the Chacalluta Industrial Park in Arica; end-to-end logistics solutions, including container and cargo reception, secure bonded warehousing, inventory management, cross-docking, cargo consolidation and de-consolidation, weighing, and dispatch operations; and proprietary foreign trade technology systems, offering digital customs documentation, electronic inventory validation, and remote processing platforms such as the Sistema de Visación Remota (SVR) and Visamático.
In recent strategic developments, ZOFRI S.A. approved an extensive long-term investment program exceeding CLP 115 billion (approximately USD 133 million) as part of its strategic plan through 2050, designed to secure the early renewal and modernization of its state concession contract. The investment framework focuses on structural upgrades to logistics infrastructure, cargo traceability technologies, sustainable energy transitions, and enhanced trade corridor connectivity aligned with the regional Capricorn Bioceanic Corridor. Concurrently, the company is expanding the ZOFRI Alto Hospicio Business Park through the development of a dedicated automotive park to concentrate and formalize vehicle import activities, alongside new cold-storage infrastructure to support agro-industrial and perishable cargo trade. Additionally, ZOFRI S.A. has executed targeted modernization programs at the Chacalluta Industrial Park in Arica to strengthen cross-border logistics and has advanced its digital transformation roadmap to streamline customs processing and e-commerce integration across its commercial ecosystems.
