Business
Bunge Global S.A. Bunge Global SA operates as a leading global agribusiness and food company, engaging in the origination, processing, transportation, and merchandising of agricultural commodities and commodity products worldwide; it crushes oilseeds such as soybeans, rapeseed, canola, and sunflower seeds into vegetable oils for food processing, food service, biofuel, and livestock feed industries, as well as protein meals; produces bottled vegetable oils, mayonnaise, margarines, and other consumer food products; mills wheat and corn for food processors, bakeries, brewers, and commercial customers; and generates sugar, ethanol, and electricity from sugarcane crushing, while supplying fertilizers including nitrogen, phosphate, and others to farmers primarily in South America. The company conducts operations across more than 40 countries with approximately 23,000 to 37,000 employees, serving farmers, livestock producers, food manufacturers, and consumers through segments including Agribusiness, Refined and Specialty Oils, Milling, and Sugar and Bioenergy; it competes with firms like Archer Daniels Midland, Cargill, and Louis Dreyfus in the farm-to-consumer value chain. Founded in 1818 in Amsterdam by Johann Peter Gottlieb Bunge, with subsequent expansions to Antwerp, Argentina, Brazil, and the United States, Bunge Global S.A. maintains its registered office in Geneva, Switzerland, and corporate headquarters in Chesterfield or St. Louis, Missouri, United States. In a transformative development, Bunge completed its $8.2 billion merger with Viterra Limited on July 2, 2025, creating a premier global agribusiness leader with enhanced grain handling, oilseed processing, and diversified crop exposure, particularly in softseeds and grain trading; this followed regulatory approvals from Canada, the European Union, and others, with final clearances enabling closure after over two years of negotiations. Post-merger, the company restructured its reporting segments effective third quarter 2025 into soybean processing and refining, softseed processing and refining, other oilseeds processing and refining, grain merchandising and milling, and corporate/other, aiming to improve transparency on performance drivers, operational efficiencies, and synergies amid trade dynamics and expanded global footprint.
