- Akcansa Cimento Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. is a Turkey-based building materials manufacturer engaged in the production, marketing, and distribution of cement, clinker, ready-mixed concrete, and aggregates, as well as the provision of port management and logistics services. Founded in 1996 through the merger of Akcimento (established in 1967) and Canakkale Cimento (established in 1974), the company is headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. The company operates three integrated cement and clinker manufacturing facilities located in Buyukcekmece (Istanbul), Canakkale, and Ladik (Samsun), supported by domestic distribution terminals across Aliaga (Izmir), Yarimca (Kocaeli), and Yalova.
The company organizes its commercial operations across several primary product and service segments: Cement and Clinker, comprising ordinary Portland cement, composite cement, sulfate-resistant cement under the Solidcem brand, high-durability infrastructure formulations such as 1803 Cement, and low-carbon cement under the ActionCem and Green For Cement product lines; Ready-Mixed Concrete, supplied under the Betonsa brand through an active network of more than 25 batching plants and offering standard structural concrete, high-performance concrete, self-compacting concrete, decorative concrete, and sustainable formulations under the Green For Concrete label; Aggregates, produced under the Agregasa brand across quarrying and crushing facilities in Tekirdag, Bursa, and Edremit to supply graded crushed stone, gravel, and sand for construction and asphalt applications; Port Operations and Logistics, managed under the AkcansaPort brand at port facilities in Ambarli (Istanbul) and Canakkale, providing bulk and general cargo handling, warehousing, customs support, and maritime logistics services; and Alternative Fuel and Waste Co-Processing, utilizing industrial and municipal waste materials as alternative fuel and raw material inputs to optimize kiln energy consumption. Akcansa serves residential, commercial, and major infrastructure construction sectors throughout the Marmara, Aegean, and Black Sea regions of Turkey, while exporting clinker, cement, and specialty materials to international markets across the Mediterranean basin, Europe, and the Americas.
In recent corporate developments, Heidelberg Materials reached an agreement to acquire the 39.72% equity stake held by long-standing joint venture partner Sabanci Holding, elevating Heidelberg Materials' ownership to 79.44% and transitioning Akcansa into a majority-controlled subsidiary to strengthen regional operating synergies. Operationally, the company has expanded its green transformation strategy through capital investments in waste heat energy recovery power generation systems, renewable energy installations, artificial intelligence-based kiln process optimization to lower energy intensity, and the accelerated market rollout of Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)-certified low-carbon cement and concrete solutions.
