Business
Bridgestone Corporation is a global leader in tire and rubber products headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, founded in 1931. The company manufactures and sells a comprehensive range of tires including passenger car tires; light truck tires; commercial truck and bus tires; motorcycle tires; off-the-road tires for construction, mining, and industrial use; aircraft tires; and retreaded tires. Bridgestone also produces diversified products such as chemical and industrial materials, including acoustic and anti-vibration insulation, polyurethane foam for automotive seats and other applications, hoses, belts, marine hoses, conveyor belts, and rubber tracks. In addition, the company offers sporting goods like golf balls, clubs, apparel, tennis goods, as well as bicycles and related articles. Bridgestone provides business solutions combining tire products, maintenance services, IT and sensor technology for customer fleet optimization primarily in the U.S., India, and globally. In the last 1-2 years, Bridgestone has focused on premium tire technology enhancements through its proprietary ENLITEN technology, which improves performance and competitiveness in both original equipment and replacement tire markets. The company has intensified global cost reduction efforts and built a premium brand image anchored by sustainable global motorsports activities. Recent strategic emphasis includes rebuilding its consumer tire business in the U.S. and India and expanding commercial B2B solutions for sectors such as mining, aviation, and trucking. In 2025, Bridgestone launched a 70% recycled and renewable materials tire certified by ISCC PLUS, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and circular economy principles. The company also debuted advanced Drive-Over System technology for fleets to monitor tire tread depth and improve maintenance decisions. Bridgestone is navigating challenges such as U.S. tariffs, a cyberattack impact on production, and fluctuating truck tire demand with a focus on turning such changes into growth opportunities under its Bridgestone 3.0 Journey initiative. Operating globally across Asia, the Americas, Europe, and other regions, Bridgestone serves automotive manufacturers, commercial fleets, industrial clients, and consumers. It remains a major supplier of original equipment tires for many of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers and is a worldwide sponsor of major sports events such as NFL, NHL, and the World Golf Championships. Bridgestone leverages its integrated portfolio of tires, diversified chemical products, sporting goods, and innovative fleet management solutions to maintain its position as the world’s largest tire and rubber company by sales. This comprehensive product lineup and recent strategic pivots position Bridgestone as a forefront player in premium tire performance, sustainability, and business-to-business solutions worldwide. The company continues to strengthen its digital and intellectual property capabilities and human capital to sustain competitive advantages in a rapidly changing global market environment.
