Business
Amal Ltd manufactures and markets bulk chemicals based on sulphur, including sulphuric acid, oleum, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide; these products serve industries such as dyes, fertiliser, personal care, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, textile, electroplating, breweries and food. The company operates a manufacturing plant in Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India, with headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra; it was founded in 1974 as Piramal Rasayan Ltd by the Piramal Group, transferred control to Atul Ltd in 1985-86, and adopted its current name in 2003. Amal Ltd maintains a wholly-owned subsidiary, Amal Speciality Chemicals Ltd, incorporated in 2020, and engages in ongoing related party transactions with promoter Atul Ltd, representing about 16% of its annual turnover, to achieve synergies in operations, logistics and sustainability. In fiscal 2025, the company achieved record consolidated revenue of Rs 135 crore, up 57%, and profit before tax of Rs 33 crore, up 11-fold, wiping out carried-forward losses through higher price realisations and volumes; it generated a cash surplus of Rs 22 crore, repaid all borrowings, invested Rs 352 lakh in capital expenditure, and recommended a 10% dividend. Amal Ltd pursues capacity upgrades with Rs 6 crore in proposed CapEx, product expansions including new related offerings, and leadership strengthening to drive sustained growth.
