Business
Polycab India Limited is India's largest manufacturer and supplier of wires and cables, operating primarily in the fast-moving electrical goods (FMEG) sector. Its product portfolio includes a comprehensive range of wires and cables such as flexible wires, building wires, optical fiber cables, rubber cables, control cables, and special purpose cables, supporting retail and industrial use. Additionally, the company manufactures and markets electric fans, LED lighting and luminaires, switches and switchgear, solar products, and conduits and accessories. Polycab operates through three main business segments: wires and cables, FMEG, and EPC services related to power distribution and rural electrification. The company serves a broad customer base across India and internationally in over 80 countries, with manufacturing facilities in multiple Indian states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territory of Daman. Founded in 1996, Polycab India is headquartered in Mumbai. Recently, Polycab India has strengthened its commitment to renewable energy by launching Polycab Solar Kits in November 2025, which serve as integrated solar power solutions for residential, commercial, and rural applications. These kits include high-efficiency grid-tie inverters, solar cables, AC/DC distribution boxes, and accessories to facilitate easy installation and promote broader adoption of solar energy. The company has significantly expanded its renewable energy capacity to 32.755 MW in solar and wind power assets and now sources 17% of its total electricity consumption from renewables, reflecting its strategic alignment with India’s clean energy goals. In the past two years, Polycab also acquired Bengaluru-based automation company Silvan Innovation Labs, a pioneer in home automation in India, to enhance its smart electrical product offerings. The company continues to focus on expanding its distribution network, increasing manufacturing capacity, and diversifying its product portfolio in both the electrical goods and renewable energy sectors to sustain growth and capture emerging market opportunities. Polycab India Limited is listed on Indian stock exchanges under the ticker POLYCAB.NS and maintains its position as a market leader with around 26-27% domestic market share in the organized wires and cables industry. It has received international investments, including a significant stake by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in the past, and maintains joint ventures and partnerships to strengthen its supply chain and product innovation. Its strategic initiatives include backward integration with acquisitions like Ryker Base for copper sourcing, further supporting operational efficiencies. With over 4,100 employees, Polycab upholds a strong governance framework and commitment to sustainability and customer service excellence. This comprehensive portfolio and recent strategic moves position Polycab India Limited as a leading and diversified electrical goods manufacturer with a growing footprint in renewable energy and smart electrical solutions markets, backed by a robust manufacturing and distribution infrastructure across India and global outreach.
