Business
Rain Industries Limited is a global producer specializing in carbon products, advanced materials, and cement. Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Hyderabad, India, the company operates through three primary business segments: Carbon, Advanced Materials, and Cement. Its Carbon segment manufactures calcined petroleum coke, coal tar pitch, green petroleum coke, and derivatives such as carbon black, creosote oil, naphthalene, and aromatic oils, serving critical raw materials markets in aluminum, graphite, carbon black, wood preservation, titanium dioxide, and refractory industries. The Advanced Materials segment offers engineered products including CARBORES, PETRORES, and LiONCOAT for lithium-ion battery anode coatings, chemical intermediates like refined naphthalene, phthalic anhydride, and resin products such as carbon, pure and hydrogenated hydrocarbon resins used in specialty chemicals, coatings, adhesives, automotive, energy storage, and petroleum applications. The Cement segment engages in the manufacture and sale of ordinary Portland cement and other cementitious materials with significant production capacity in India and internationally. Recent major developments include capacity expansions and strategic expansions in research and development focused on energy storage materials, highlighted by the establishment of an Innovation Centre in Hamilton, Canada, for battery R&D and advancements in waste-heat recovery energy generation with commissioned solar power and electrification projects to reduce emissions. The company has also implemented a comprehensive Supplier Code of Conduct to embed sustainability across its supply chain. Operations span multiple continents with 15 production sites and an integrated global logistics network. Rain Industries maintains longstanding relationships with major raw material suppliers including leading oil refiners and steel producers, and its scale and process capabilities enable flexible production tailored to customer specifications. The company holds significant market presence as one of the largest producers of calcined petroleum coke and coal tar pitch globally as well as a diversified portfolio in specialty chemicals and cement markets. Rain Industries continues to pursue growth through mergers, acquisitions, and capacity enhancements, maintaining a focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
