Business
SKIL Infrastructure Ltd. engages in infrastructure development in India through special purpose vehicles, focusing on seaports and logistics; railways; defence shipbuilding and offshore asset construction yards; special economic zones; and smart cities in the private sector. The company, formerly known as Horizon Infrastructure Limited, changed its name in January 2014 and was incorporated in 1983 with headquarters in Mumbai. It pioneered several first-of-their-kind projects, including project linkages for international airports and the first railway line developed in partnership with Indian Railways. Recent major developments include the initiation of Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Mumbai on February 1, 2024, following an application by financial creditor Amluckie Investment Company; admission of claims totaling over Rs 13,700 crore, including from Bank of India, UCO Bank, and Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company; rejection by NCLT in August 2025 of an application to withdraw the CIRP; constitution of the Committee of Creditors on October 27, 2025, after NCLAT lifted a stay; and delays in submitting financial results for periods including September 30, 2025, due to ongoing CIRP proceedings, non-cooperation from key personnel, and challenges with statutory auditors. Operations remain centered in India with a small employee base of seven and subsidiaries such as SKIL Shipyard Holdings Private Limited, while past activities included a 2015 agreement for stake divestment in Pipavav Defence and Offshore Engineering Company Limited (now Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited) and cessation of certain smart city subsidiaries like Navi Mumbai Smart City Infrastructure Limited.
