Business
Sobhagya Mercantile Limited is an India-based diversified infrastructure, engineering, and resources enterprise engaged in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, technical consultancy, mineral extraction, metal processing, and heavy equipment leasing. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with executive offices in Nagpur, Maharashtra, the company operates as a member of the MKS Group, catering to public sector authorities, government infrastructure departments, and private commercial enterprises throughout India. The company delivers its solutions across four principal business segments: Infrastructure and Construction, Engineering Consultancy, Mining and Metals, and Equipment Leasing. Its comprehensive portfolio of products and services comprises large-scale civil infrastructure execution, including road and highway development, civil earthworks, and agricultural irrigation networks; full-lifecycle engineering consultancy services, including project design, technical planning, cost estimation, pre-feasibility studies, market surveys, architectural engineering, project management, commissioning, and operations and maintenance advisory for transportation and water management assets; mining and mineral processing activities, comprising coal extraction, commercial stone aggregate production, and crushing operations; steel trading and manufacturing, supplying structural steel, intermediate billets, and rolled steel products; and industrial equipment rental, leasing heavy earthmoving machinery, specialized construction equipment, and logistics fleets for capital-intensive infrastructure developments. In recent years, Sobhagya Mercantile Limited has executed strategic reorganizations to expand its footprint in high-value civil engineering and EPC contracting. The company notably advanced its contracting portfolio through a joint venture securing a major INR 260.5 crore infrastructure order for irrigation works associated with the Gosikhurd National Project in Maharashtra. To support its strategic expansion and order book execution, the company structured major capital-raising exercises, including board approval for a fundraising program of up to INR 125 crore through the issuance of securities, as well as the issuance of preferential convertible warrants that led to institutional investments, including Nova Global Opportunities Fund PCC-Touchstone acquiring a 6.26% equity stake upon warrant conversion. Additionally, the company is advancing its industrial capabilities through the establishment of a dedicated steel manufacturing facility in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, while solidifying operational partnerships and material transaction arrangements with affiliate entity MKS Constro-Venture Private Limited to enhance execution capacity across infrastructure and industrial sectors.
