Business
Conted SA is a Romania-based textile and garment manufacturing company specializing in the design, engineering, and industrial production of ready-to-wear formal clothing, outerwear, and professional uniforms for men, women, and children. Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Dorohoi, Botoșani County, Romania, the company operates as a publicly traded entity on the Bucharest Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol CNTE. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of apparel products and contract manufacturing services, structured across multiple garment categories. Its primary manufactured products include tailored menswear and womenswear, comprising two-piece and three-piece suits, blazers, sport jackets, formal trousers, and slacks; casual and cold-weather outerwear, including heavy wool overcoats, trench coats, raincoats, parkas, and quilted jackets; separate tailored apparel, including skirts, dresses, waistcoats, and vests; as well as specialized apparel, such as military uniforms, ceremonial attire, and institutional corporate wear. Alongside third-party contract manufacturing, the company produces and commercializes garments under commercial brand names, including Bleu Marine, Sam Daniel, Progetto Uomo, and Samiolli. Conted SA delivers a full spectrum of garment production services, organized into cut-and-make outward processing (the lohn system), where customer-supplied textiles and accessories are assembled to exact specifications; complete cut-make-trim solutions, where the company sources fabrics and auxiliary trimmings from domestic and international suppliers; computerized pattern development, grading, and marker optimization using CAD technology; sample fabrication, technical prototyping, and collection modeling; automated spreading and precision cutting; high-volume assembly and specialized industrial stitching; form-finishing, thermo-pressing, and final pressing; and quality inspection, individual packaging, barcoding, and customs-compliant export logistics. Conted SA operates primarily as an export-oriented manufacturer, supplying leading European fashion houses, retail chains, and commercial brands across key international markets, including France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom, as well as serving institutional and commercial clients within Romania. In recent developments, Conted SA has implemented operational adjustments to navigate shifts in European textile demand, rising input costs, and evolving supply chain requirements. The company executed key executive management restructuring, marked by the Board of Directors appointing Mioara Laura Munteanu as General Director to lead operational reorganization, productivity enhancements, and commercial diversification. Operationally, the company has focused on expanding flexible manufacturing capabilities to accommodate smaller batch orders, shorter lead times, and specialized technical collections alongside large-scale production runs. In addition, Conted SA has continued upgrading its equipment and implementing energy efficiency measures at its Dorohoi production facilities to maintain cost competitiveness and quality compliance under the ongoing majority ownership of France-based shareholder Lagarde.
