- Sinteza SA is a Romania-based chemical manufacturing company primarily engaged in the production, processing, and distribution of basic organic chemicals and specialty chemical intermediates. Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Oradea, Romania, the company operates an integrated industrial manufacturing platform supplying intermediate inputs and raw materials to clients in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food processing, agricultural, plastics, and industrial coatings sectors.
The company organizes its product and service offerings into core commercial categories: organic acids and preservatives, featuring technical-grade benzoic acid, benzoic acid standard plus, ultra-grade benzoic acid, liquid benzoic acid, benzoic acid flakes, sodium benzoate, and salicylic acid; custom manufacturing and synthesis services, providing specialized process capabilities including catalytic hydrogenation, oxidation, reduction, and high-purity chemical intermediate fabrication for active pharmaceutical ingredients; industrial chemical products, comprising alkyd resins, water-soluble paints, industrial solvents, protective varnishes, bituminous waterproofing agents, automotive brake fluids, and antifreeze solutions; and agrochemical formulations, encompassing organophosphates and crop protection agents. Sinteza SA conducts the vast majority of its commercial operations across international markets, exporting over 95 percent of its production volume to industrial partners in more than 25 countries throughout the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region.
In recent operational and strategic developments, Sinteza SA has focused on optimizing its core chemical assets and integrating green chemistry principles aimed at raising its Renewable Carbon Index by utilizing bio-based feedstocks. Following a strategic letter of intent signed in November 2024 with Lockheed Martin to build a 50 million euro negative electrolyte manufacturing facility in Oradea for GridStar Flow long-duration energy storage systems under Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Sinteza SA conducted detailed economic and technical feasibility reviews and subsequently announced in May 2025 the formal cancellation of the battery project, reorienting its capital deployment and operational resources toward its core organic synthesis capabilities and high-value chemical manufacturing operations.
