- TeraPlast SA is a Romania-based industrial manufacturer and polymer processing enterprise specializing in the design, production, and distribution of plastic construction systems, polymer compounds, flexible packaging solutions, and recycled materials. Founded in 1896 and headquartered in Sărățel, Bistrița-Năsăud County, Romania, the company operates as the flagship entity of the TeraPlast Group, serving municipal infrastructure, residential and non-residential building, civil engineering, industrial processing, retail, and agricultural sectors across Central, Eastern, and Western Europe.
The company organizes its commercial and manufacturing activities into five main product and service divisions: Installation and Infrastructure Systems, comprising unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), polyethylene (PE), and polypropylene (PP) pipes and fittings for potable water supply, domestic and industrial wastewater sewerage, stormwater management, natural gas distribution, cable protection, telecommunications networks, and agricultural irrigation; inspection chambers, modular manholes, and septic tanks; Compounds, comprising customized rigid and plasticized PVC granules, halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR) compounds, biodegradable and compostable masterbatches, and micronized PVC powders designed for extrusion, blow molding, and injection molding applications; Flexible Packaging, comprising multi-layer cast stretch films, shrink films, polyethylene industrial sacks, agricultural films, and certified biodegradable and compostable shopping bags and garbage bags marketed under the TeraBio Pack brand; Window and Door Profiles, comprising multi-chamber PVC profiles, thermal insulating joinery, and specialized architectural accessories; and Recycling and Waste Management Services, comprising the collection, industrial sorting, crushing, micronization, and regranulation of post-industrial and post-consumer rigid PVC materials.
TeraPlast SA distributes its product lines across domestic and international markets, supplying civil engineering contractors, infrastructure utilities, industrial converters, agricultural enterprises, wholesale distributors, and retail DIY chains in Romania, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Croatia, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, and the broader Balkan region. The company operates major manufacturing facilities situated within the TeraPlast Industrial Park in Sărățel alongside regional operational subsidiaries including TeraGlass, TeraBio Pack, and TeraPlast Recycling.
In recent operational and corporate developments, TeraPlast SA has executed a series of cross-border acquisitions and industrial investments to accelerate its international expansion and circular economy capabilities. The company acquired the Wolfgang Freiler Group, securing production and distribution assets in Austria and Hungary to enhance access to Central and Western European markets; acquired Optiplast d.o.o., a prominent Croatian flexible packaging producer, thereby significantly enlarging its packaging footprint in Southeastern Europe; and acquired Palplast SRL, a polyethylene pipe manufacturer in the Republic of Moldova. Additionally, the company commissioned a newly constructed industrial stretch film factory in Sărățel, scaled up processing capacities at its rigid PVC recycling unit, and implemented on-site photovoltaic solar energy generation projects across its manufacturing facilities to optimize energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions.
