- Construcciones El Cóndor S.A. is a Colombia-based heavy civil engineering, construction, and infrastructure investment company. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Medellín, Colombia, the company specializes in the structuring, financing, design, engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), operation, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure assets. Operating primarily across Colombia with capabilities extending to regional Latin American markets, the company serves national and regional public-sector transportation authorities, municipal entities, and private commercial clients across the transportation, mining, energy, and public utilities sectors.
The company organizes its operations into two primary business segments: Construction and Investments. Through its Construction segment, Construcciones El Cóndor S.A. delivers end-to-end heavy civil engineering and infrastructure contracting services, comprising: roadway and highway infrastructure development, including dual carriageways, arterial corridors, and road surface paving; complex bridge, viaduct, and tunnel construction; mass transit infrastructure, including bus rapid transit (BRT) corridors and railway platforms; airport civil works, including runway, taxiway, and apron construction; large-scale earthmoving, geotechnical stabilization, and rock excavation; contract open-pit mining operations and mineral handling; hydraulic and heavy concrete works, including hydroelectric dams, spillways, and flood control structures; and industrial pipeline installation for water and hydrocarbon transport. Through its Investment segment, the company participates as an equity sponsor and managing partner in long-term public-private partnerships (PPPs) and concession vehicles, comprising: toll road and highway concessions; airport operations; public utility infrastructure; and clean energy and hydroelectric generation assets.
In recent developments, Construcciones El Cóndor S.A. has executed strategic asset divestments and balance-sheet optimization programs to strengthen its capital structure, reduce leverage, and normalize contract performance following the completion of major Fourth Generation (4G) highway concessions. In September 2024, the company completed the sale of its 48% equity stake in Concesión Pacífico Tres S.A.S. and transferred associated creditor rights to infrastructure investment funds managed by Patria Investments. Operationally, the company continues the execution of strategic national projects, including access road and civil works for the Túnel del Toyo megaproject and execution on the Santana–Mocoa–Neiva (Ruta al Sur) corridor via the Consorcio C&M San Agustín joint venture. Additionally, the company has completed formal contract restructuring and debt reprofiling processes to reinforce working capital while strategically positioning its pipeline for Fifth Generation (5G) infrastructure concessions, multi-modal transport tenders, and selective international contracting opportunities.
