- Grupo Clarín S.A. is an Argentina-based media holding company primarily engaged in the production and distribution of journalistic, entertainment, and audiovisual content across print, broadcast, and digital platforms. Tracing its origins to 1945 with the founding of its flagship newspaper and incorporated as a consolidated corporate holding in 1999, the company is headquartered in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Grupo Clarín serves consumer audiences, commercial advertisers, and corporate clients primarily throughout Argentina, with an expanding digital audience across Latin America and international Spanish-speaking markets.
The company organizes its principal operations into three core business segments: Digital and Printed Publications; Broadcasting and Programming; and Digital Content and Other Services. Within Digital and Printed Publications, managed primarily through Arte Gráfico Editorial Argentino S.A. (AGEA), the company provides the flagship national daily newspaper Clarín; sports daily Olé; regional daily La Voz del Interior; specialized magazines and collectibles including Genios, Revista Ñ, and Elle Argentina; commercial printing and custom publishing solutions; retail book and publishing distribution through Cúspide Libros; and newsprint manufacturing through its equity participation in Papel Prensa S.A. Within Broadcasting and Programming, operated principally through Arte Radiotelevisivo Argentino (Artear) and Radio Mitre S.A., the company operates open-air broadcast network El Trece (Canal 13) and regional broadcast affiliates; 24-hour cable news network Todo Noticias (TN); specialty cable television signals including TyC Sports, Quiero música en mi idioma, Canal Magazine, and Volver; radio broadcasting services through AM station Radio Mitre (AM 790) and FM stations La 100 (FM 99.9) and Mía FM; and audiovisual content and cinematographic production through Pol-ka Producciones and Patagonik Film Group. Within Digital Content and Other Services, the company provides digital news portals including clarin.com, ole.com.ar, and tn.com.ar; digital premium subscription platforms; display, video, and programmatic advertising services; digital classifieds; and marketing technology solutions.
In recent years, Grupo Clarín has executed major strategic, structural, and operational changes to accelerate its digital transformation and optimize its asset portfolio. Recent corporate developments include the acquisition of a majority controlling stake in financial services and collections management firm Gestión de Préstamos y Cobranzas S.A. (GCGC) to diversify operational cash flows; the divestment of its equity participation in regional newspaper Diario Los Andes; and the corporate restructuring and transfer of shareholdings in sports broadcasting and production entities, including Tele Red Imagen S.A. (TRISA) and Carburando. Operationally, the group has expanded its multiplatform paid subscriber base by deploying integrated digital subscription bundles across its news and sports assets, enhanced programmatic monetization technologies, and implemented operational efficiency and cost-containment programs across legacy print and television production operations to counteract domestic macroeconomic volatility.
