The company operates in two primary segments: Nurse and Allied Staffing, which offers temporary and permanent placements of travel and local nurses, allied health professionals including therapists, technicians, and medical technologists, healthcare leaders in nursing, allied fields, human resources, and finance, as well as vendor-neutral managed services programs, education and training services, in-home care, and outsourcing solutions; and Physician Staffing, which supplies licensed physicians across various specialties, certified registered nurse anesthetists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants on temporary locum tenens assignments to acute and non-acute care facilities, medical group practices, government facilities, and managed care organizations. Founded in 1986 and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, Cross Country Healthcare maintains an extensive network of professionals to address staffing shortages, seasonal demands, and specialized needs in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings nationwide. In April 2024, the company completed the asset acquisition of Workforce Solutions Group, Inc. to expand its offerings and secured $100 million in new financing; additionally, in December 2024, Aya Healthcare announced its agreement to acquire Cross Country Healthcare for approximately $615 million in an all-cash transaction valued at $18.61 per share, representing a 67% premium to the pre-announcement price, with the deal pending shareholder approval, regulatory clearances including an ongoing FTC second request, and expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, after which Cross Country will operate as a private company under Aya.
