Business
Chesapeake Gold Corp. is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company focused on precious metals projects in North America. The company advances its flagship Metates project in Durango State, Mexico, which hosts one of the largest undeveloped gold-silver-zinc deposits in the Americas with measured and indicated resources of 17 million ounces of gold and 423 million ounces of silver; it employs a proprietary sulphide heap leach process and oxidative leach technology to treat refractory ores, achieving gold recoveries up to 74% while reducing initial capital costs to US$359 million for Phase 1 development over a 31-year mine life producing an average of 147,000 gold-equivalent ounces annually in the first 15 years at an all-in sustaining cost of US$749 per ounce. Chesapeake also develops the high-grade near-surface Lucy oxide gold project in Sinaloa, Mexico, featuring a 700-meter mineralized corridor confirmed by 2023 drilling; and holds a 68% interest in Gunpoint Exploration Ltd., owner of the Talapoosa gold-silver project in Nevada, USA. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, the company operates primarily in Mexico and the United States, targeting low-cost gold production through innovative metallurgical solutions. Recent developments include the January 2024 vertical short-form amalgamation streamlining its corporate structure by merging with wholly-owned subsidiary American Gold Capital Corporation and directly holding Mexican operations; the May-June 2024 acquisition of intellectual property rights for its proprietary oxidation technology from Hycroft Mining Holding Corporation via wholly-owned Alderley Gold Corp.; and the October 2025 sale of its Tatatila gold-copper project in Veracruz, Mexico, to Mexican Gold Mining Corp. in exchange for a 14.99% equity stake.
