Business
CHS Inc. is a diversified global agribusiness cooperative owned by farmers, ranchers, and cooperatives across the United States, headquartered in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and founded in 1931. The company operates through energy, agriculture, and nitrogen production segments, providing grain marketing, agronomy solutions including crop nutrients, crop protection products, seeds, and animal feed; energy products such as Cenex-brand refined fuels, gasoline, diesel, propane, lubricants, asphalt, and renewable fuels; food processing including refined oils, soybean meal, soy flour, and edible oil-based products via its co-ownership of Ventura Foods with Mitsui & Co.; as well as financial, insurance, and risk management services to customers in 65 countries with over 10,000 employees worldwide. CHS distributes Cenex fuel through one of North America's largest convenience store networks spanning 19 midwestern and western states and maintains global grain marketing operations with export terminals, petroleum refineries, and transportation fleets for fuels and agricultural inputs. In recent developments, CHS completed its $225 million acquisition of West Central Ag Services in January 2025, strengthening its Upper Midwest footprint in grain and agronomy supply chains and fully integrating their joint venture Central Plains Ag Services; mutually ended its grain marketing joint venture with Mid-Kansas Cooperative in October 2025 while retaining shared ownership of three Kansas grain rail terminals; and launched a digital collaboration with AgVend in August 2024 to streamline wholesale ordering, invoicing, and shipments for crop protection and other products via the CHS Connect platform.
