Business
Calumet, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLMT) manufactures, formulates, and markets specialty hydrocarbon products and renewable fuels for consumer-facing and industrial markets worldwide; its core offerings span base oils, solvents including hexanes and mineral spirits, waxes such as paraffin and microcrystalline varieties, customized lubricating oils, white oils, petrolatums, gels, esters, polyol esters, asphalts, and fuels; through its Performance Brands segment, the company blends and packages high-performance lubricants and greases under Royal Purple and Bel-Ray brands, along with ethanol-free engineered fuel under TruFuel, serving wholesale distributors and retail chains. The Specialty Products and Solutions segment supplies these products for applications in adhesives, paints, coatings, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and personal care; the Montana/Renewables segment, operated via subsidiary Montana Renewables in Great Falls, Montana, processes renewable feedstocks like seed oils and used cooking oil into renewable diesel, sustainable aviation fuel, renewable hydrogen, natural gas, propane, and naphtha, while also refining Canadian crude into conventional gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and asphalt. Founded in 1919 and headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Calumet operates 12 manufacturing facilities across North America, employs over 1,600 people, and distributes to nearly 2,500 customers in more than 90 countries. Recent developments include a October 2024 sale-leaseback agreement with Stonebriar Commercial Finance for $150 million in Calumet Montana Refining assets to reduce revolver debt, a July 2025 $120 million extension of Shreveport terminal financing intended for partial redemption of 2026 senior notes, amendments to Montana Renewables agreements enabling early termination pending U.S. Department of Energy loan funding, a April 2025 sale of industrial assets from the Royal Purple business while retaining consumer operations and the Porter, Texas facility, and new one-gallon packaging launches for Royal Purple and Bel-Ray products in July 2025.
