Founded in 1953 and headquartered in Tacoma, Washington, Columbia Banking System generates revenue primarily through net interest income and fees from services like account maintenance, transaction processing, and wealth management. In a major strategic expansion completed on September 2, 2025, the company acquired Pacific Premier Bancorp, Inc., integrating Pacific Premier Bank to boost assets to approximately $70 billion with $50 billion in loans and $56 billion in deposits, accelerating growth in Southern California, Northern California, Arizona, and other western markets while unifying operations under the Columbia family of brands with full systems integration targeted for the first quarter of 2026. Recently, Columbia Banking System increased its quarterly dividend by 3% to $0.37 per share, payable on December 15, 2025, signaling confidence in earnings stability and capital returns amid ongoing acquisition integration; additionally, in November 2025, it appointed Brock Lakely as Executive Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer, and Corporate Controller following the departure of Lisa M. White, reinforcing operational leadership.
