Business
Ceres Power Holdings plc develops and commercializes clean energy technologies, including solid oxide fuel cells for power generation and solid oxide electrolyser cells for green hydrogen production; its SteelCell platform features a ceria ceramic electrolyte on stainless-steel substrates, enabling scalable stacks, power modules, systems, stack array modules, and electrolyser modules for applications in data centers, commercial and industrial power, marine propulsion, ammonia production, refineries, green steel, and eFuels. Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Horsham, West Sussex, United Kingdom, the company pursues an asset-light licensing model with global manufacturing partners such as Doosan, Delta Electronics, Denso, Thermax, Shell, and Weichai Power, deriving revenue from engineering services, technology hardware, licence fees, milestones, and royalties primarily across Asia, Europe, and North America. Recent developments include Doosan's July 2025 commencement of mass production of SOFC stacks and systems at its 50MW South Korean facility targeting AI data centers, grid stabilization, buildings, and marine power; Delta's 2025 commitment of approximately £170 million for a Taiwanese manufacturing site focused on Ceres-based hydrogen solutions for data centers and microgrids; Shell's May 2025 activation of a megawatt-scale SOEC demonstrator in Bangalore achieving 37kWh/kg efficiency; Denso's completion of SOEC technology transfer milestones; Thermax's inauguration of its HydroGenx Hub in India; a November 2025 manufacturing licence with Weichai for stationary power systems; and a multi-million-pound agreement with HORIBA MIRA for advanced fuel cell and electrolysis testing facilities to support global partner scaling, alongside a business transformation programme launched in 2025 to realign operations for commercial growth, reduce costs by 20% by 2026, and launch a dual-purpose stack platform in 2026.
