Business
Corby Spirit and Wine Limited is a Canadian manufacturer, marketer, and importer of spirits, wines, and ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages. The company produces and distributes its owned beverage alcohol brands including Canadian whiskies such as J.P. Wiser’s, Lot No. 40, Pike Creek, and Gooderham & Worts; rum brands like Lamb’s; vodka brand Polar Ice; liqueurs under the McGuinness label; and RTD products including Nude beverages and Cottage Springs. Corby also represents leading international brands in the Canadian market including Absolut vodka, Chivas Regal, The Glenlivet, Ballantine’s Scotch whiskies, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Beefeater Gin, Malibu rum, Kahlúa liqueur, Mumm Champagne, and wines such as Jacob’s Creek, Stoneleigh, Graffigna, Campo Viejo, and Wyndham Estate. The company operates primarily in Canada with exports to the United States, Europe, and other international markets. Founded in 1859 and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Corby has a significant presence in the alcoholic beverage industry. Recent major changes include Corby’s acquisition of a 90% stake in Ace Beverage Group (ABG), a leading Canadian RTD producer, and the acquisition of the RTD brand Nude Beverages, both in 2024. These strategic acquisitions have significantly expanded Corby’s RTD portfolio and boosted sales growth by 41% in fiscal 2024. Corby also completed the acquisition of certain assets from MXM Beverages Ltd. in May 2024 through its subsidiary ABG. The company continues to focus on innovation in the RTD segment, digital transformation, and portfolio prioritization strategies to maintain market leadership. In 2025, Corby appointed a new CEO, Florence Tresarrieu, a Pernod Ricard executive, underscoring its integration within the Pernod Ricard group, which holds a majority stake. Corby also launched new RTD products, such as collaborations with Ocean Spray to introduce RTD vodka cocktails with real cranberry juice, further diversifying its offerings. Corby operates under two main segments: Case Goods, which encompasses production and distribution of owned beverage alcohol brands, and Commissions, derived from representing non-owned brands in Canada. Its client base includes retail, on-trade channels, and international customers, with a strong emphasis on Canadian market leadership backed by Pernod Ricard's global portfolio. The company’s strategic focus on the fast-growing RTD market and digital initiatives underpins its growth strategy amid a broadly flat spirits market in Canada. Corby Spirit and Wine Limited maintains a robust portfolio centered on spirits and RTD beverages with a historical foundation dating back over 160 years, demonstrating significant recent growth through acquisitions and product innovation in Canada and internationally.
