Business
Darling Ingredients Inc. (NYSE: DAR) renders essential services to the global food processing industry by collecting, recycling, and converting organic byproducts, such as animal fats, used cooking oils, and residual bakery products, into sustainable ingredients and bioenergy products; its core offerings encompass Diamond Green Diesel joint venture biofuels, specialty proteins under Rousselot and Gelita brands for collagen and gelatin applications, specialty fats and oils including Diamond Green Diesel renewable diesel, EnviroFlight insect protein, and Enbalm feed enzymes, alongside biogas and fertilizer production from anaerobic digestion. The company operates through three principal segments—Feed Ingredients, Food Ingredients, and Fuel Ingredients—serving animal feed manufacturers, food processors, renewable fuel producers, and biofuel end-users across North America, Europe, Asia, and other international markets. Founded in 1882 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Darling Ingredients maintains extensive rendering and recycling facilities worldwide, with key subsidiaries including Darling Ingredients International and a 50% ownership stake in Diamond Green Diesel LLC. In recent developments, the company expanded its biofuel capabilities through the April 2025 startup of Diamond Green Diesel's Norco, Louisiana expansion, boosting renewable diesel production capacity to over 1.2 billion gallons annually; it also advanced sustainability initiatives with a November 2024 multimillion-dollar investment in Peptone's precision fermentation platform for biotech-derived ingredients and progressed construction on a state-of-the-art dry rendering facility in eastern Canada announced in early 2025.
