- NewMed Energy - Limited Partnership engages in the exploration, development, production, and sale of petroleum, natural gas, and condensate primarily in Israel, with operations extending to Jordan, Egypt, Cyprus, Morocco, and Bulgaria. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Herzliya, Israel, the partnership holds significant interests in key assets including the Leviathan project (500 square kilometers offshore Haifa); Yam Tethys project (offshore Ashkelon); Tanin and Karish leases (approximately 500 square kilometers offshore Nahariya); Block 12 (approximately 386 square kilometers in Cyprus); Boujdour Atlantique exploration license (approximately 33,812 square kilometers in southern Morocco); and a 50% stake in the Han Asparuh block (Bulgaria's Black Sea). It supplies independent power producers, marketing companies, and industrial customers in Israel while exporting natural gas to Jordan and Egypt; NewMed Energy Management Ltd. serves as the general partner.
The partnership offers natural gas and condensate from its offshore reservoirs; it also pursues opportunities in renewable energy projects and low-carbon initiatives globally to diversify into sustainable energy.
Formerly known as Delek Drilling - Limited Partnership, it rebranded to NewMed Energy - Limited Partnership in February 2022 to reflect expanded Middle East operations and new business areas. In March 2025, it acquired a 50% interest in the Han Asparuh block offshore Bulgaria from OMV Petrom, committing up to EUR 100 million for exploration wells. In September 2025, it advanced agreements with Israel Natural Gas Lines for the Nitzana Project compressor station and pipeline capacity allocation linked to Leviathan exports; a prior $2 billion acquisition pursuit by BP and ADNOC for a major stake paused amid regional uncertainties.
