Business
DENSO Corporation engages in the development, manufacture, and sale of automotive components and systems with a focus on six core business segments: electrification systems; powertrain systems including injection and engine equipment; thermal systems such as passenger and commercial air conditioning; mobility electronics comprising electronic and safety system products; advanced devices including mechatronics and sensing systems; and non-automotive businesses involving industrial solutions, AUTO-ID products, and factory automation systems. The company operates globally with consolidated subsidiaries across Japan, North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and other regions. Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Kariya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, DENSO employs approximately 158,000 people and reported consolidated revenue of ¥7.16 trillion (US$47.9 billion) for the fiscal year ending March 2025. Recent major corporate developments reflect strategic growth and innovation: DENSO announced a strategic partnership and partial acquisition of semiconductor manufacturer ROHM in 2024 to enhance its semiconductor technology and supply stability in automotive and industrial equipment fields. In July 2025, DENSO acquired Axia Vegetable Seeds, marking an expansion into agricultural-related technology. The company launched a new aftermarket smart mobility brand, MobiQ, offering vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity products and solutions. DENSO also commenced inverter production at its Fukushima plant in September 2024 to strengthen its electric vehicle (EV) component manufacturing capabilities and expanded its inverter product line targeting EVs. Additionally, it is building a new next-generation plant employing digital twin technology and automation for carbon-neutral production with 24-hour unmanned operation. Further, DENSO completed an equity buyback in late 2024 as part of its capital strategy. DENSO serves the automotive industry predominantly as a Tier 1 supplier with products integrated into passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and electric vehicles worldwide. It maintains a leadership position in automotive electrification and safety systems leveraging advanced semiconductor and mechatronics technologies. The company also extends its technology expertise into non-automotive sectors including industrial automation and food value chains. Its strategic expansions and technological advancements align with its mission to contribute to a sustainable society through innovation in mobility and related industries.
