Business
Dürr AG is a leading global mechanical and plant engineering firm specializing in automation, digitalization, and energy efficiency technologies for sustainable manufacturing processes. The company offers comprehensive solutions through its three core divisions—Automotive, Industrial Automation, and Woodworking—including turnkey paint shops, final assembly systems, and robot technology for vehicle production; application technology for paints, sealants, and adhesives; balancing technology via Schenck; woodworking machinery, software, and services for furniture, flooring, doors, windows, CLT/GLT, and timber house construction through the HOMAG Group; and assembly, test, winding, insertion, take-out, feeder, and palletizing systems via BBS Automation for mobility, medtech, consumer goods, new energy, electronics, and battery production. It serves the automotive industry (51% of 2024 sales), furniture and timber house producers (30%), and sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and electrical engineering, with operations across 130 sites in 32 countries, including key regions in North America, Western Europe, and emerging markets accounting for 42% of 2024 sales. Founded in 1895 (corporate form established 1896) and headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, near Stuttgart, Dürr AG acts as the management holding company overseeing governance, financing, and central functions. In recent strategic developments, the company sold its environmental technology division to Stellex Capital Management at the end of October 2025 to streamline into three focused divisions and concentrate on core "Sustainable Automation" growth drivers; bundled automotive businesses into a new Automotive division at the start of 2025; divested the Danish filling technology firm Agramkow in 2024; and completed the acquisition of automation specialist BBS Automation in August 2023, following prior purchases of teamtechnik and HEKUMA in 2021, targeting €500 million in automation segment sales for 2024 amid record order intake of €5.14 billion and sales of €4.70 billion.
