Business
Central Asia Metals plc is a base metals producer focused on low-cost copper, zinc and lead operations; its principal assets include the 100%-owned Kounrad solvent extraction and electro-winning (SX-EW) project in central Kazakhstan, which produces copper cathodes from in-situ dump leach material with annual capacity up to 14,000 tonnes, and the 100%-owned Sasa zinc-lead mine in North Macedonia, which produces zinc and lead concentrates along with silver by-products from underground mining operations. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in London, United Kingdom, the company operates exclusively in Central Asia with mining activities in Kazakhstan and North Macedonia, targeting industrial customers in base metals markets including Europe, China and regional consumers. In 2025, Central Asia Metals secured a revised A$230 million ($150 million) acquisition of New World Resources Limited, adding the advanced Antler copper project in Arizona, USA -- containing 11.4 million tonnes at 4.1% copper equivalent for potential 12-year production of copper, zinc, lead, silver and gold concentrates -- alongside early-stage Javelin and Tererro projects, marking geographic diversification into North America and doubling prospective copper output upon development.
