Business
Nippon Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. is a pure holding company overseeing the manufacture and sale of paints and fine chemicals through its subsidiaries worldwide; it offers decorative paints for residential and commercial use under brands including Nippon Paint, Dulux, British Paints, Betek Boya and Alina; automotive coatings for vehicle manufacturing and repair; industrial coatings for general and protective applications including ships and infrastructure; surface treatment agents; and specialty chemicals such as composites resins. Founded in 1881 and headquartered in Tokyo with an additional office in Osaka, Japan, the company operates in 48 countries and regions across Asia, Australia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and other international markets, generating 90% of sales overseas and holding leading market share in paints in Japan, Asia, Australia and Turkey. In recent developments, Nippon Paint Holdings completed the acquisition of AOC, a U.S.- and Europe-based specialty chemicals formulator, from Lone Star Funds in March 2025 for approximately $4.35 billion, following an agreement signed in October 2024, to bolster its composites business and drive EPS compounding; it continues aggressive M&A through partners like DuluxGroup, which has pursued multiple acquisitions including Cromology and JUB in recent years.
