Business
DZS Inc., formerly known as DASAN Zhone Solutions, Inc., historically delivered a broad array of broadband network access solutions and advanced communications platforms to service providers and enterprises globally, spanning the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Its comprehensive portfolio traditionally encompassed fiber access systems like DZS Velocity for high-speed internet, voice, and video services, alongside switching and routing infrastructure for multi-gigabit connectivity. The company also offered connected home and business platforms through DZS Helix, providing smart gateway solutions and optical network terminal devices for diverse fiber deployments. Furthermore, its DZS Chronos segment addressed mobile and optical edge requirements, supporting operators in upgrading mobile transport systems and transitioning to next-generation wireless technologies. Cloud software solutions, under DZS Cloud, provided orchestration for open RAN and 4G/5G networks, enhancing network slicing and automation. However, DZS Inc. filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on March 14, 2025, leading to the liquidation of its assets. On May 1, 2025, Zhone Technologies, Inc. successfully acquired substantially all of these assets, including DZS's technology, intellectual property, and certain customer and supplier contracts. Zhone Technologies, Inc., itself founded in 1999, now continues to leverage these leading technologies, which include the Velocity Optical Line Terminal systems, Saber DWDM transport solutions, Helix Optical Network Terminals, Wi-Fi gateways, and the newly branded Zhone Xtreme cloud management, automation, and orchestration software. This strategic acquisition aims to accelerate growth in the FTTx and cloud software markets, maintaining a focus on innovative, high-performance solutions for its global customer base. The company is headquartered in Plano, Texas.
