Business
EDAP TMS S.A. is actively involved in the development, manufacturing, commercialization, distribution, and upkeep of a range of minimally invasive therapeutic ultrasound medical devices. These systems are primarily designed for treating urological conditions across Asia, France, the United States, and other international territories. The company's operations are divided into three distinct segments: High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Extracorporeal ShockWave Lithotripsy (ESWL), and Distribution Services. The HIFU division focuses on creating, producing, and promoting medical devices that leverage HIFU technology for the non-invasive ablation of targeted prostate tissue and localized prostate cancer. This includes the Ablatherm® Robotic HIFU device for primary and salvage treatment of prostate cancer, alongside the Focal One® robotic HIFU platform, which is specifically dedicated to focal therapy for prostate cancer. The Focal One system incorporates proprietary fusion software, integrating MRI and real-time ultrasound imaging for enhanced precision. Recent innovations have further augmented Focal One with advanced ultrasound imaging and workflow enhancements, including potential AI-driven algorithms, while the technology is also being explored for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and deep infiltrating endometriosis. Additionally, EDAP TMS provides the ExactVu™ Micro-Ultrasound device, offering a comprehensive solution for prostate cancer from diagnostic imaging to focal treatment. This segment's offerings extend to disposables, equipment leasing, treatment-related services, and ongoing maintenance. The ESWL division manufactures, markets, and provides servicing for lithotripters, employing extracorporeal shockwave technology to effectively address urinary tract stones. Its product portfolio features the Sonolith® i-move, a sophisticated extracorporeal shockwave lithotripter suitable for diverse hospital environments. This segment also supplies essential disposable parts and electrodes for its lithotripsy systems. The Distribution division is engaged in the marketing, sales, and maintenance of various third-party medical devices, such as lasers, micro-ultrasound systems, and other complementary healthcare products. Its revenue streams also encompass device leasing, the sale of consumables and spare parts, and providing crucial maintenance services. The company distributes and sells its products through a combination of its direct marketing, dedicated sales organization, and service infrastructure, as well as via a global network of third-party distributors and agents. Its clientele comprises academic, public, and private hospitals, specialist urology clinics, and research institutions. EDAP TMS S.A. was established in 1979 and maintains its corporate headquarters in Vaulx-en-Velin, France.
