- Egyptian Chemical Industries (KIMA) is an Egypt-based joint-stock enterprise primarily engaged in the manufacturing, processing, and distribution of nitrogenous fertilizers, basic industrial chemicals, technical gases, and ferroalloys. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Aswan, Egypt, the company operates as a key subsidiary of the state-owned Chemical Industries Holding Company and supplies domestic agricultural and industrial sectors as well as global export markets across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The company operates across several core product categories: Fertilizers, comprising granular and prilled urea, high-density ammonium nitrate, porous ammonium nitrate for civil and industrial formulations, and liquid ammonium nitrate fertilizers; Industrial Chemicals and Acids, including anhydrous liquid ammonia, aqua ammonia, nitric acid, and hydrochloric acid; Industrial and Medical Gases, encompassing high-purity compressed nitrogen and liquid and gaseous oxygen; and Ferroalloys and Mineral Byproducts, including ferrosilicon, silicomanganese alloys, and silica fume for metallurgical and construction applications. In addition to chemical manufacturing, the company engages in industrial real estate management, logistics, and quarrying operations. In recent developments, the company has undertaken major modernization and capacity expansion programs across its Aswan manufacturing hub, including an engineering, procurement, and construction agreement awarded to a consortium of Tecnimont and Orascom Construction to construct a 600-tonne-per-day nitric acid facility and an 800-tonne-per-day granulated ammonium nitrate unit under its Kima 1 and Kima 3 expansion initiatives. To fund ongoing project execution and optimize its capital structure, Egyptian Chemical Industries completed a 4.0 billion Egyptian pound capital increase, expanding its issued and paid-up capital to 9.93 billion Egyptian pounds and raising its authorized capital to 12.0 billion Egyptian pounds. Furthermore, the company rehabilitated and restarted its Aswan ferrosilicon complex under an operational partnership with True East Mining Company to produce silicomanganese alloys, diversifying its revenue streams and enhancing industrial export capabilities.
