- Madinet Masr for Housing and Development S.A.E., formerly known as Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development (MNHD), is an Egypt-based public shareholding real estate development company engaged in urban planning, land development, infrastructure engineering, building construction, architectural design, property management, and real estate sales and leasing. The company operates across multiple real estate sectors, including residential communities, commercial hubs, retail centers, administrative office parks, healthcare facilities, and integrated mixed-use master-planned townships. Founded in 1959 to master-plan and develop the Nasr City district in Cairo, the company is headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, and is publicly traded on the Egyptian Exchange under the ticker MASR.
The company's core product and service portfolio encompasses large-scale urban developments and master-planned communities, notably its flagship mega-project Taj City, an integrated mixed-use development located in New Cairo along the Cairo-Suez Road comprising residential compounds such as Tag Sultan, Shalya, Zone-T, Park Residence, Elect, Clubside, and Origami, alongside commercial zones including the Cobalt Business District and Tajed retail strip; Sarai, a master-planned community situated in East Cairo featuring luxury residential zones including Cavana Springs, Cavana Lakes, Rai Valleys, Croons, and Elan, integrated with lagoons, shopping malls, and hospitality amenities; The Butterfly, a master-planned community situated in Mostakbal City; Zahw, a multi-phase residential and commercial project in Assiut Governorate; primary infrastructure development, including road networks, sewage networks, water distribution networks, electrical grids, and telecommunications civil works; architectural design, engineering consultancy, and construction management services delivered through specialized operating units and subsidiaries; comprehensive real estate asset management, facility maintenance, and post-handover community management; and commercial real estate leasing and sales catering to corporate, retail, and institutional clients.
In recent developments, the company executed a corporate rebranding from Madinet Nasr for Housing and Development (MNHD) to Madinet Masr to reflect its nationwide growth strategy and expanded footprint beyond Greater Cairo. To accelerate its project pipeline and diversify its asset portfolio, Madinet Masr completed strategic acquisitions of Minka Real Estate Investment and EgyCan for Real Estate Development. Through its Madinet Masr Innovation Labs, the company introduced Touba, a digital property acquisition platform enabling fractional, square-meter-based real estate purchasing with flexible payment structures, as well as Theqa, a proprietary property warranty program. Operationally, the company expanded geographically into Upper Egypt with the launch of the Zahw project and entered Mostakbal City with The Butterfly development, while establishing strategic partnerships with technology and telecommunications providers such as Orange Egypt for smart city infrastructure, alongside major construction contracts with top-tier engineering and contracting firms to accelerate delivery schedules across Taj City and Sarai. Additionally, Madinet Masr has initiated regional expansion strategies to explore real estate development and co-investment opportunities across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
