Business
Egyptian International Pharmaceutical Industries Co. (EIPICO) is an Egypt-based pharmaceutical manufacturing company engaged in the research, development, production, marketing, and distribution of generic and branded human pharmaceuticals, biological products, veterinary treatments, and active pharmaceutical ingredients. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in 10th of Ramadan City, Egypt, the company operates under the sponsorship of the Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA) and caters to institutional healthcare providers, government procurement programs, hospital networks, retail pharmacies, and international distributors. EIPICO manufactures a comprehensive therapeutic portfolio across multiple dosage presentations, including systemic antibiotics and antimicrobial agents; cardiovascular and antihypertensive drugs; central nervous system therapies, sedatives, and antidepressants; gastrointestinal and anti-ulcer medications; analgesics, antipyretics, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; respiratory and anti-asthmatic agents; ophthalmic, otic, and nasal formulations; dermatological ointments, creams, and gels; metabolic and endocrine treatments; nutritional supplements, vitamins, and tonics; veterinary pharmaceuticals; and active raw materials and gelatin capsules. Its finished dosage delivery systems include sterile liquid ampoules, lyophilized injectable vials, and cephalosporin dry powder vials; oral solids comprising film-coated tablets, effervescent tablets, and hard gelatin capsules; oral liquids encompassing syrups, elixirs, and suspensions; sterile ophthalmic drops; and topical formulations. Geographically, the company operates primary production complexes in Egypt and exports products to more than 65 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. In recent developments, EIPICO has undertaken major strategic and operational expansions anchored by the construction and validation of the EIPICO 3 manufacturing complex, a dedicated multi-billion-pound facility established for the localized manufacture of biologicals, biosimilars, monoclonal antibodies, and recombinant proteins. To finance this industrial expansion and upgrade its production lines, the company executed capital increases through rights offerings and secured long-term credit facilities. EIPICO has also entered into strategic technology transfer and licensing agreements with global biopharmaceutical firms to localize the manufacturing of oncology biosimilars and insulin analogs, expanded its commercial distribution footprint in target African and Eurasian markets, and broadened contract manufacturing partnerships with multinational pharmaceutical enterprises.
