Business
Upper Egypt Flour Mills Co. is an Egypt-based public shareholding company engaged in the manufacturing, processing, storage, packaging, and distribution of flour, grain derivatives, and bakery products. The company operates through several core business segments, offering products and services including: subsidized wheat flour of 82% extraction rate for the production of baladi bread; premium fine wheat flour of 72% extraction rate for commercial bakeries and pastry production; coarse and fine wheat bran utilized as animal and poultry feed; packaged macaroni and pasta products; assorted bakery goods and confectionery; grain handling, conditioning, and steel silo storage services; manufacturing of woven polypropylene sacks and packaging materials; warehousing and cold storage logistics; and vehicle fleet transport and maintenance services. Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Sohag, Egypt, the company operates as a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Food Industries and maintains an extensive operational network of flour mills, storage silos, pasta factories, and distribution centers across Upper Egypt, encompassing the governorates of Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea. In recent developments, Upper Egypt Flour Mills Co. has advanced modernization and rehabilitation programs across its milling facilities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce grain waste, and increase milling extraction yields; expanded strategic grain storage capacities in coordination with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade; upgraded automated packaging lines to bolster distribution of consumer-packaged flour and pasta products; and increased its commercial focus on free-market 72% flour and animal feed production to diversify revenue streams beyond government-subsidized commodity contracts.
