Farmer Brothers serves small independent restaurants, foodservice operators, large institutional buyers, national account customers including restaurant, department, and convenience store chains, hotels, casinos, healthcare facilities, gourmet coffee houses, grocery chains with private label and consumer-branded products, foodservice distributors, and consumers via e-commerce, with over 100 locations providing national reach and localized service across foodservice, retail, grocery, gaming, hospitality, healthcare, education, convenience stores, and convention centers. Founded in 1912 by Roy E. Farmer in Los Angeles, California, and headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas since relocating its primary operations there in 2016, the company went public in 1952 and has expanded from coffee roasting to a broad portfolio of sustainably produced, organic, and Direct Trade beverages and goods. In recent developments, Farmer Brothers sold its direct ship business in 2023 to focus on core operations, achieving significant financial and operational improvements over the subsequent two years; in July 2025, it formed a strategy committee of independent directors, engaged North Point Mergers and Acquisitions, Inc. as financial advisor and Winston & Strawn LLP as legal counsel, and initiated a review of strategic alternatives including potential transactions to maximize shareholder value, with no set timetable disclosed.
