- Fission Uranium Corp. is a Canadian mineral exploration and development company focused on uranium properties in the Athabasca Basin of Saskatchewan. The company owns 100% of the Patterson Lake South (PLS) project, which hosts the high-grade Triple R uranium deposit characterized by near-surface mineralization along a 3.17-kilometer trend; the project features a feasibility study outlining a hybrid open-pit and underground mine plan with an estimated 14-year mine life producing 100.8 million pounds of U3O8 at average annual output of 7.2 million pounds, metallurgical recovery of 95%, and all-in sustaining costs of US$14.02 per pound. Fission conducts exploration activities including drilling programs to expand resources, such as the 10,000-meter regional program announced in 2016 and high-grade zone extensions reported in 2017 at R840W, R1620E, and R1515W zones. Operations target institutional investors, nuclear utilities, and strategic partners in the global uranium sector, with activities centered in Canada's premier Athabasca Basin district approximately 550 kilometers north-northwest of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Founded in 2013 as a spin-out from Fission Energy Corp. by Dev Randhawa and headquartered in Kelowna, British Columbia prior to recent changes, the company trades on the TSX under FCU and OTCQX under FCUUF. In December 2024, Paladin Energy Ltd. completed the acquisition of all outstanding Fission shares through a court-approved plan of arrangement valued at C$1.14 billion, renaming the entity Paladin Canada and integrating it into Paladin's portfolio alongside assets in Namibia and Australia to form a multi-jurisdictional uranium producer targeting multi-asset production by 2029; this transaction provided Fission shareholders with 0.1076 Paladin shares per Fission share, delisted Fission from the TSX effective December 24, 2024, and prompted a review of the PLS feasibility study for optimization while retaining most of Fission's executive team except CEO Ross McElroy. Earlier, in 2016, CGN Mining Company Limited acquired a 19.99% stake for CAD$82.23 million, securing sales rights to portions of PLS output.
