Business
5E Advanced Materials, Inc. (Nasdaq: FEAM; ASX: 5EA) develops and produces boron specialty and advanced materials, complemented by lithium co-products, from its colemanite boron and lithium mineral resources at the Fort Cady project in Southern California's Mojave Desert and the Salt Wells project in Nevada; the company extracts and processes minerals into boric acid for applications in electric vehicles, clean energy infrastructure including solar and wind, fertilizers, defense, semiconductors, specialty glass, textile fiberglass, ceramics, insulation, agriculture and chemicals, as well as lithium carbonate and potential additional by-products, with plans for downstream advanced material processing to serve global decarbonization, food security and domestic supply chain needs. Headquartered in Hesperia, California, and founded in 2016 as American Pacific Borates Limited before rebranding, 5E operates a permitted small-scale facility producing up to 90,000 tonnes per annum of boric acid, designated as U.S. critical infrastructure, with first commercial production and customer shipments achieved in 2024 alongside qualification by 14 customers across diverse sectors. Recent developments include a comprehensive recapitalization and equity investment in early 2025 through debt exchange and PIPE transactions with noteholders such as Ascend Global Investment Fund and Bluescape Special Situations, an $8.31 million public offering closed in August 2025 to fund facility operations, wellfield development and engineering, a $10 million capital raise in 2024 with $4 million in new U.S. equity, entry into federal programs like Cornerstone for Defense Production Act funding, and ongoing applications for Department of Defense and Energy grants.
