Business
Fireweed Metals Corp. is a Vancouver-based mineral exploration and development company focused on critical metals projects in northern Canada, including the Yukon Territory and Northwest Territories. Incorporated in 2015 and formerly known as Fireweed Zinc Ltd. until its name change in June 2022, the company owns 100% of three flagship projects: the district-scale Macpass Zinc-Lead-Silver Project spanning 940 square kilometers and hosting one of the world's largest undeveloped high-grade zinc resources with recent expansions at the Boundary Zone and Tom deposits; the Mactung Tungsten Project, one of the largest and highest-grade tungsten deposits globally; and the Gayna River Zinc-Gallium-Germanium Project covering 128.75 square kilometers with zinc, lead, silver, gallium, and germanium mineralization. These projects target critical minerals essential for infrastructure, transportation, defense, and technology sectors, with ongoing exploration drilling, geophysical surveys, and metallurgical testing to advance toward mine development. Recent developments include a $12.9 million funding agreement signed in August 2025 with the Government of Canada for North Canol corridor infrastructure improvements; up to C$35.4 million in joint US-Canadian government funding awarded in December 2024 under the US Defense Production Act Title III to advance Mactung permitting and feasibility studies; closure of over C$60 million in financings in May-June 2025 to support a major 2025 field program across all projects; leadership changes with Ian Gibbs appointed CEO and Adam Lundin as Chair in January 2025, alongside Tyler Keeling as CFO in February 2025; commencement of the 2025 exploration program in June including drilling at Macpass, Gayna, and Mactung; and updated mineral resources filed for Macpass in October 2024 incorporating high-grade Boundary Zone intercepts.
