Business
Global Clean Energy Holdings, Inc. (OTC:GCEH), now operating as Grapevine Energy following its financial restructuring, is a vertically integrated renewable fuels company focused on the development, cultivation, and commercialization of non-food camelina sativa feedstocks for biofuels, biomass, and renewable chemicals. The company produces renewable diesel, biofuels oil feedstock from patented camelina varieties, biomass feedstock, renewable propane, and renewable butane at its Bakersfield Renewable Fuels Facility in California, which has a design capacity of up to 210 million gallons annually and began commercial operations in late 2024; it holds the world's largest patent and IP portfolio for camelina, a regenerative oilseed crop grown on fallow land. Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Torrance, California, Global Clean Energy operates through subsidiaries including Sustainable Oils, Inc., acquired in 2013 for camelina genetics and relocated to Great Falls, Montana in 2021, and Camelina Company Espana, purchased in January 2022 as Europe's largest camelina producer; its farm-to-fuels model spans cultivation in the United States and Europe, feedstock processing, and refining for sustainable aviation fuel, biodiesel, and hydrotreated vegetable oil markets. Recent developments include the commercial launch of renewable diesel production at the repurposed Bakersfield facility in December 2024 under a supply agreement with Vitol, Inc., a USDA grant of up to $30 million for camelina-based low-carbon fuels, Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in April 2025 to restructure $2 billion in debt with $100-250 million in debtor-in-possession financing from lenders including Vitol Americas and CTCI Americas, and successful emergence from restructuring on August 12, 2025 as Grapevine Energy with court-approved sale to lenders and CTCI. The company targets ultra-low carbon intensity fuels with up to 90% lower emissions than petroleum diesel, serving obligated parties under California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard and federal Renewable Fuel Standard programs through contract growers across U.S. states and international operations.
