- Gulfport Energy Corporation (GPOR) is an independent natural gas-weighted exploration and production company focused on the acquisition, exploration, development and production of natural gas, crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGL) in the United States; its principal properties are located in eastern Ohio targeting the Utica Shale and Marcellus formations in the Appalachia Basin and in central Oklahoma targeting the SCOOP Woodford and SCOOP Springer formations in the Anadarko Basin; operations span approximately 208,000 net reservoir acres in Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson and Monroe Counties in Ohio, where the Utica formation ranges from 600 to over 750 feet thick, and 73,000 net reservoir acres in Garvin, Grady and Stephens Counties in Oklahoma. The company serves wholesale gas markets, utilities and industrial customers through its high-quality, low-breakeven resource base emphasizing sustainable cash flow generation, margin improvement and capital returns to shareholders via advanced drilling and completion technologies. Founded in July 1997 and headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Gulfport maintains a strategy of environmentally responsible asset development with an estimated 15 years of net inventory at break-evens below $2.50 per MMBtu across its core assets. Recent developments include expansion of its share repurchase program to $320 million for 2025 and $350 million for 2026, with total authorization reaching $1.5 billion through end-2026 to enhance shareholder value; opportunistic discretionary acreage acquisitions totaling approximately $28.6 million year-to-date in 2025, including Utica lean condensate areas adding over three years of economic inventory and growing gross undeveloped locations by more than 40% since year-end 2022; transition to development mode in the Marcellus formation alongside efficiency gains targeting 20% reduction in drilling and completion capital per foot in 2025 versus 2024; and repurchase of 491 thousand shares for $80.1 million in fourth-quarter 2024 plus an agreement on December 2, 2025, to buy back 45,546 shares from Silver Point Capital at $219.56 per share.
