Business
Petrovietnam Refining and Petrochemical Corporation, operating as Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR), is a Vietnam-based energy company primarily engaged in crude oil refining, petrochemical manufacturing, and the wholesale distribution of refined petroleum products. Founded in 2008 as a subsidiary of the state-owned Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and headquartered in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, the company owns and operates the Dung Quat Refinery, the country's first commercial oil refining facility. The company operates across multiple integrated business segments encompassing petroleum refining, petrochemical production, and industrial technical services. Its primary product portfolio comprises transportation fuels, including RON 92, RON 95, and E5 RON 92 automotive gasolines; Jet A-1 aviation turbine fuel; automotive and industrial diesel oils, including DO 0.05%S and Euro V-compliant DO 0.005%S; liquefied petroleum gas (LPG); kerosene; and industrial fuel oil (FO). Its petrochemical and specialty chemical offerings include polymer-grade propylene; granular and liquid sulfur; and a diverse range of polypropylene (PP) homopolymer resin grades tailored for raffia yarn, woven bags, biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film, cast film, and precision injection molding applications. In addition to core manufacturing operations, the corporation provides technical and engineering consultancy; plant turnaround, operation, and maintenance (O&M) services; laboratory testing and petroleum quality verification; and marine terminal handling, storage, and logistics services. The company distributes its products predominantly across Vietnam to wholesale petroleum distributors, industrial end-users, and energy trading partners, while also exporting specialty polymer grades to regional markets in Southeast Asia. In recent operational developments, the corporation has advanced the capital-intensive Dung Quat Refinery Upgrade and Expansion Project to elevate its crude processing capacity from 148,000 to approximately 171,000 barrels per day (7.6 million metric tons per annum) and ensure output compliance with Euro V emissions standards; pursued the formal listing transfer of its shares to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE); diversified its crude slate by securing long-term import contracts for international sweet and sour crudes; and commenced the trial production of new high-value specialty polymer grades as well as components for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
