Business
Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO 3) is a Vietnam-based power generation utility primarily engaged in the production, wholesale transmission-readiness, and distribution of electric power. Established in 2012 and operating as a joint-stock subsidiary of state-owned Vietnam Electricity (EVN), the corporation is headquartered in Phu My, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, Vietnam. The company operates a diversified energy portfolio and offers comprehensive utility solutions across several core segments; electric power generation utilizing natural gas, coal, hydropower, and solar energy sources; engineering, procurement, and construction management for energy infrastructure; specialized operation and maintenance (O&M) services; diagnostic testing, overhaul, and refurbishment of power plant machinery; mechanical manufacturing, precision machining, and replacement component fabrication for thermal and hydro facilities; and environmental management services including ash and slag recycling solutions for power stations. The company manages significant utility assets across northern, central, and southern Vietnam, including the Phu My Thermal Power Center gas-fired combined-cycle plants, the Mong Duong 1 and Vinh Tan 2 coal-fired thermal power plants, the Buon Kuop hydropower plant cascade, and the Vinh Tan 2 solar power facility, alongside interests in affiliated power producers such as Thac Ba Hydropower Joint Stock Company, Ninh Binh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, and Vinh Son - Song Hinh Hydropower Joint Stock Company. Through its dedicated technical subsidiary, EVNGENCO3 Power Service Company (EPS), the corporation provides end-to-end technical management, troubleshooting, testing, calibration, and heavy overhaul services to both domestic EVN-affiliated plants and independent power producers across Southeast Asia. Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 sells electricity predominantly to the National Load Dispatch Center and the Single Buyer under the national wholesale electricity market mechanism. In recent developments aligned with Vietnam's National Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 3 has accelerated its strategic transition toward low-emission and flexible energy sources. The corporation has advanced development frameworks and strategic partnerships for high-efficiency liquefied natural gas (LNG) power projects, notably leading investment preparations for the proposed Long Son LNG Power Complex in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. To lower carbon intensity across its thermal fleet, the company has entered technical collaborations with international original equipment manufacturers, including GE Vernova and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, to implement digital plant upgrades, improve heat rate efficiency, and pilot biomass and green ammonia co-firing technologies at its coal-fired assets. In addition, EVNGENCO 3 has expanded its third-party service business by securing long-term operation, maintenance, and technical consultancy contracts for external renewable energy, combined-cycle gas turbine, and industrial energy installations throughout the region.
