- Vietnam National Petroleum Group (HOSE: PLX), widely known as Petrolimex, is a Vietnam-based energy conglomerate primarily engaged in the import, export, storage, processing, wholesale distribution, and retail marketing of petroleum, refined oil products, and related petrochemicals. Founded in 1956 and headquartered in Hanoi, Vietnam, the company operates as the country's leading downstream petroleum distributor, serving industrial enterprises, transportation sectors, commercial clients, state agencies, and individual retail consumers across domestic and regional markets. The group operates through distinct business segments, offering a comprehensive portfolio of products and services that includes petroleum products such as Mogas 95, Mogas 92, E5 RON 92 bio-fuel, Euro 5-compliant RON 95-V gasoline, Euro 4 and Euro 5 diesel oils (DO 0.05S-II and DO 0.001S-V), kerosene, fuel oil (FO), and aviation fuel (Jet A-1); petrochemicals and chemical products comprising automotive engine lubricants, industrial gear oils, marine lubricants, process oils, greases, solvents, and specialty asphalt/bitumen through Petrolimex Petrochemical Corporation (PLC); liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products, including bottled LPG for households, bulk industrial LPG, and auto LPG distributed by Petrolimex Gas Corporation (PGC); marine, coastal, pipeline, and inland waterway transportation services for petroleum and chemical cargo operated by Petrolimex Tanker Corporation (PG Tanker) and its maritime shipping subsidiaries; engineering, construction, technical maintenance, and automation services for petroleum storage terminals, pipeline networks, and fuel metering systems provided via Petrolimex Information Technology and Telecommunication Joint Stock Company (PIACOM) and mechanical engineering units; and non-fuel retail and financial services consisting of property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, and maritime insurance provided by Petrolimex Insurance Corporation (PJICO), alongside station-based retail convenience store chains (P-Mart), car care services, and automated vehicle wash stations. Geographically, Petrolimex manages an extensive nationwide infrastructure network spanning all 63 provinces and municipalities in Vietnam, comprising thousands of company-owned and franchised petrol stations, coastal and inland petroleum depots, bonded warehouses, and dedicated pipeline systems, while maintaining international trading and distribution operations in Singapore through Petrolimex Singapore Pte. Ltd. and in Laos through Petrolimex Laos. The company is majority-owned by the Government of Vietnam through the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC), with Japan's ENEOS Corporation serving as a major foreign strategic corporate shareholder. In recent operational and strategic developments, Petrolimex completed the full divestment of its equity stake in Petrolimex Commercial Joint Stock Bank (PG Bank) to streamline its operational focus strictly toward its core petroleum, petrochemical, and energy infrastructure businesses. Concurrently, the group accelerated its green energy transition and digital transformation initiatives by forming a strategic nationwide partnership with electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast to install and operate EV charging stations and battery-swapping infrastructure across its extensive retail station network; rolling out an integrated automated non-cash payment ecosystem, biometric verification, and the Petrolimex ID digital customer loyalty platform across all retail locations; and expanding the supply of ultra-low-emission Euro 5 standard fuels while initiating feasibility studies for rooftop solar integration at fuel depots, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) distribution, and green hydrogen supply chains.
