Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited (ICBC) is the world's largest bank by total assets and a leading provider of comprehensive financial services, including personal banking with deposit-taking, personal loans such as overseas study loans, card business featuring Peony RMB credit cards, and personal wealth management; corporate banking encompassing global cash management, trade finance, corporate loans, investment banking, and supply chain finance; electronic banking via mobile banking, internet banking, and open banking platforms; as well as institutional services, green finance, technology finance, and cross-border RMB products. Founded in 1984 and headquartered at 55 Fuxingmennei Avenue in Beijing's Xicheng District, ICBC operates as a partially state-owned entity with majority control by Central Huijin Investment and the Ministry of Finance, serving over 150 million individual and 2.5 million corporate customers through an extensive domestic branch network and international subsidiaries including ICBC (Asia) in Hong Kong, ICBC (Europe) in Luxembourg, ICBC Turkey, ICBC Argentina, and branches across Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania in more than 70 countries. The bank targets diverse segments such as manufacturing, strategic emerging industries, small and micro enterprises, pension finance, and Belt and Road Initiative projects, with overseas operations contributing around 12% of total assets. In recent developments, ICBC received regulatory approval in October 2025 to acquire the troubled Bank of Jinzhou Co.
