Business
PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk is an Indonesia-based holding company specializing in renewable energy, with a primary focus on geothermal and wind power generation. It operates through its subsidiaries, principally Star Energy Geothermal Group, which is Indonesia's leading geothermal energy producer, and Barito Wind, which manages wind power assets. The company manufactures and operates geothermal power plants, including units at the Salak, Darajat, and Wayang Windu geothermal fields with a combined installed capacity exceeding 910 MW, representing a significant share of the domestic geothermal market. Additionally, it owns and operates the Sidrap Wind Power Plant in South Sulawesi with a capacity of 78.75 MW. The company also provides management consulting services related to power generation and renewable energy solutions. PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, and was founded in 2018 as a renewable energy arm of the Barito Pacific Group. The company recently completed significant expansion and retrofit projects, including the inauguration of five new geothermal projects that add a generation capacity of 112 MW to its portfolio, stemming from a committed investment of approximately USD 365 million. These projects include new unit developments at Salak Binary (16.6 MW), Wayang Windu Unit 3 (30 MW expected COD in December 2026), and Salak Unit 7 (40 MW expected COD in December 2026), as well as retrofitting Salak Units 4, 5, and 6 and Wayang Windu Units 1 and 2, which enhance efficiency and capacity. The retrofit projects have successfully increased capacity beyond initial targets, with Salak Units 4-6 adding about 7.7 MW by October 2025. These upgrades employ advanced technologies such as binary cycle systems, 3D turbine blade designs, compact power plant configurations, and high-efficiency single flash technology, improving operational lifespan and efficiency. This strategic expansion supports Indonesia’s national renewable energy mix target of 23% by 2025 and promotes low-carbon development and job creation in local communities. Barito Renewables operates primarily in Indonesia with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and community engagement around its operational sites. Its business segments cover geothermal power generation, wind power generation, and related management consulting activities. The company plays a strategic role in Indonesia’s energy transition, leveraging its subsidiaries to manage and develop renewable energy infrastructure across key geothermal assets in West Java and wind power in Sulawesi. As part of the Barito Pacific Group, PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk aligns its operations with broader group sustainability goals and government renewable energy policies, reinforcing its position as a leading renewable energy company in Indonesia.
