A subsidiary of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk, PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk traces its origins to PT Bakrie Steel Industries founded in 2007 and is headquartered in Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia, with operations focused on mining contractors, palm oil plantations, logistics firms, government agencies, state-owned enterprises, and fleet operators including Transjakarta. In 2022, the company rebranded from PT Bakrie Steel Industries to PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk, pivoting to electric vehicle trading, manufacturing, assembly of electric buses, and original equipment manufacturer spare parts distribution; it listed shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in June 2023. Recent developments include construction of Indonesia's first CKD electric vehicle assembly facility in Magelang, Central Java, targeting over 40% local content for 12-meter electric buses; delivery of 29 electric buses and chassis to Transjakarta operators, first electric buses for airport mobility, introduction of the inaugural electric compactor truck at Ibu Kota Negara, and seven electric forklifts in 2024, achieving a 44% year-on-year increase in EV sales.
